Orbis, a global non-governmental organization, and PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital have joined hands to launch a groundbreaking initiative that aims to provide sustainable and eco-friendly eye care services to the communities in Maharashtra. The Green Vision Center (GVC), located in Satara, is a state-of-the-art facility that combines modern technology and renewable energy to provide quality eye care services to the local population.
The GVC is designed to address the long-standing issue of poor eye care in the region by providing primary eye care and optical services in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. The center uses clean solar-powered electricity, energy-efficient electrical fixtures, and appliances, and digital data management to improve patient care and reduce the use of paper. The GVC is also equipped with modern ophthalmic technology to provide a wide range of eye care services to the local population.
The launch of the GVC is a significant milestone for the partnership between Orbis and PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, which has been instrumental in reaching out to the communities and providing ophthalmic treatments for over two decades. The innovative approach of the GVC is aimed at revolutionizing the way primary eye care is delivered, bringing eye health services closer to the communities and contributing to the sustainable development goals. The GVC is a crucial step towards ensuring uninterrupted access to eye health services while promoting sustainability among the citizens of Satara district.
