Lycored Lumenate and Ceramides Study

A preclinical study just published in Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology demonstrates impressive benefits for skin structure when using Lycored Lumenate® combined with ceramides. The results show that combining even low concentrations of ceramides with Lumenate produces synergistic effects within the body that lead to high levels of protection against collagen loss.

After years of exposure to environmental stressors, collagen and ceramides, which keep skin firm, elastic and strong, begin to decline. By age 40, about 30 percent of collagen is lost and by age 50, nearly 60 percent of ceramides are lost. This leads to the appearance of aging through the formation of wrinkles and dry, fine-looking skin.

To evaluate the efficacy of Lumenate in this study, specifically when combined with ceramides, the authors mimicked environmental stressors in skin cells by activating them with tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a) to trigger an immune response. The results found dual benefits when using Lumenate combined with ceramides. After testing Lumenate and Ceramides alone, the benefits of the combination showed a significant improvement (almost 4-fold) in preventing collagen loss in cells. In addition, the results showed the superior level of collagen protection at different levels of ceramides while keeping Lumenate levels constant, showing the power of Lumenate when working with ceramides while also supporting structure and efficacy at low levels.

These findings support those of previous studies, which highlight Lumenate’s power to improve skin structure, elasticity, firmness, and more.1,2 Elizabeth Tarshish, PhD, Head of Claims and Clinical Affairs at Lycored stated, “With this growing body of evidence surrounding Lumenate, we are pleased to see how Lumenate affects the body internally and works externally to support skin structure and collagen protection. These promising results continue to show how Lumenate can be used to improve the efficiency and potency of skin health solutions that support beauty from within.”
